WALLYTENDER 48 X (WALLY TENDER)
For the first time Wally features an
outboard-powered version.
Debuting at the
Miami Yacht Show
2020, the new Wallytender
48 X exhibited more power, more speed.
The Wallytender
48 X delivers maximum speeds in excess of 55
knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots with a range of
340 nautical miles. It is fitted with Mercury’s powerful
450hp Verado R engines, the lightest and most
fuel-efficient outboards on the market.
Wallytenders are built for the ride, with solid
vinylester-resin laminates below the waterline and foam
core above, all vacuum-bagged.
The minimum draft at which you can cruise
is reduced to 2 feet, 4 inches—shaving almost two feet
from the inboard version.
A challenge for owners of boats with outboard engines
can be the access from the stern.
As a first in its category, Wally ingeniously split the
four engines to the flanks of the boat, with two on each
side. This ensures easy access to the water or shore.
With two on each
side, allowing the installation of the retractable
hydraulic boarding swim ladder to provide direct and
easy access to the water or the shore.
Since the engines have been repositioned outside the
hull, the
48
Wallytender X is a dead quiet ride thanks to reduced
noise and vibration. With the engines
are outside
the hull, vast space is freed up for storage, and – as
with the inboard model – the 48 Wallytender X features
user-friendly joystick controls for easy docking.
There’s a spacious suite on the lower deck for those
overnight trips, plenty of plush seating, a
well-equipped galley to cater to alfresco dining, and
sunbeds where seafarers can catch the day’s rays.
Wally marked its 25th
anniversary with the launch of the 48 Wallytender in
2019. The 48’s hull is an evolution of the original
Wallytender designs. The near-plumb, wave-piercing bow,
all-around rub rail are a little different, but the
running surfaces are essentially the same as those on
the 48’s predecessor, the Wally Power 47. The original
47s still turn heads, but this latest version adds
modern things. There’s now a galley and dinette abaft
the helm seats. The painted carbon-fiber arch and
hardtop contains white-acrylic skylights, which means
less of a dark shadow beneath them. There’s also a
retractable, five-step passerelle that doubles as a swim
ladder. A few seconds after flicking a switch, the after
bulwark sections descend, more than doubling the usable
teak-deck space around the swim platform.
Wallytender 48 also has air conditioning, a Seakeeper 6
stabilizer and a 17-gallon-per-day watermaker.
