KARNIKA cruise ship
Jalesh Cruises

On April 4th, 2019, ModelShipMaster hand delivered a 55" (1.4 meter) long model ship onboard the Karnika cruise ship at Sembcorp Marine Repairs & Upgrades Pte. at Ltd. Admiralty Yard in Singapore. It was a wonderful experience to be there, as we had attended several ship launch events but never on a cruise ship that was being modified. Below are some photos for your enjoyment.

Landing in Singapore:

The ship would be leaving for India in two days--on Saturday and we were puzzled seeing much work still in progress. However, master of the Karnika, Mr. Dominick Flores smiled and said it would be well on schedule.

Master of Karnika, Mr. Dominick Flores is taking off part of the crate himself, in his 'headquarters' on the eight floor of the Karnika:

Very happy with the model:

Mr. Flores gave a quick tour. It seemed to be a lot to be done but to him, it's "nothing"... Only 2 more days in dry dock!

Karnika is India's first premium and also the largest cruise ship. Owned by Zen Cruises, the company has invested up to US $100-million in buying and refurbishing a cruise ship for the Indian market, and plans to buy more in the coming years. “We have purchased a vessel, which is a very good hardware and in very good condition,” said Jurgen Bailom, President, Zen Cruises. “but when you enter in to a venture like this, a one-ship operation won’t be successful.”

Karnika has passenger capacity of 2,000. Before becoming Karnika, the ship was the 70,285-gross ton Pacific Jewel owned by Carnival Corporation and operated by P&O Cruises Australia. More information about the Karnika's launch can be found here:
