KUGIRA: The vessel that builds ports

This model was commissioned by Acciona in 2018. Acciona is the owner of the Kugira. The model had many metal parts to ensure its rigidity while transported to exhibitions and shows. We are the only builder who can work on metal which is needed quite often to produce very fine parts in museum-quality model ships. We look forward to receiving your order of the favorite vessel that you own and love.

The Kugira floating dock is 74 m long, 49 m wide and 56 m high and casts 66 m x 24 m x 21 m concrete caissons. It was used to build Spain's most important port projects, which include the Algeciras dry dock in Cádiz.

Kugira means “whale” in Japanese and everything about this machine is enormous: 56 meters high (equivalent to an 18-story building), 74 meters long and 49 meters wide. This size enables the Kugira to manufacture concrete caissons weighing up to 24,000 tons. She holds the record for having constructed the world’s largest floating-dock caisson – everything is more than 66.85 meters long, 32 meters wide and 34 meters high for the 31 blocks of the Port of Algeciras.
