HMS AGAMEMNON model
Lord Nelson's favorite ship

HMS Agamemnon was a 64-gun ship of the line. She was one of the most famous vessels of the Royal Navy.  For three of the most crucial decades of British naval history, Agamemnon was at the center of events, fighting at the Battle of the Saintes, the Battle of Copenhagen and, of course, Trafalgar, the summit of her career.  Later she served in the West Indies, participating in the Battle of Santo Domingo, and then in South American waters, until she was wrecked in off the coast of present-day Uruguay, in 1809, so bringing to an end a career of 28-year of constant active service.

In 1793 the HMS Agamemnon came under command of Captain Horatio Nelson. Nelson sailed with Lord Howe’s Fleet in the blockade of Toulon and in the capture of the Corsican ports of Bastia and Calvi. Here, unfortunately, Nelson lost his right eye. Nelson was very fond of the Agamemnon and described her as “without exception the finest 64 in the service.”  He was the Captain of the HMS Agamemnon for 3 years and 3 months.

About the construction of the HMS Agamemnon model:

- Built from scratch
- The book ‘Anatomy of Nelson’s Ships’ by C. Nepean Longridge
- Copies of the original ships plans of the HMS Agamemnon obtained from The National Maritime Museum Greenwich
-
Plank-on-frame construction
-
Copper-plated bottom: individual copper pieces that were weathered unevenly to create a realistic look (no  paint, no fake lines.)
- Each deck has different cannons in term of size. They are
blackened metal barrel on wooden carriage. Under the main deck, all guns are "real" guns which sit on 2 real decks under the main deck. These guns are not simple barrels inserted into a solid hull like at stephensandkenau.com.
- Authentic Extensive rigging system comprised of many different sizes of rope and features numerous blocks and deadeyes
- Full length masts and bowsprit per construction plans
- Beautiful three-dimensional stern gallery

The ship is truly beautiful.  Gave it to Dad for Father's Day.  He's enamored by it.  Your ships are the best and arrive in perfect condition.  I would love to get HMS Victory from you, but understand from previous correspondence that it is not always available.  Would you let me know when you have one to sell?  I have a spot already picked out.  (And P.S. the illumination feature is really cool.)  Best regards, David F."

"My Wife and I would like to thank you and all those at Modelshipmaster for an

outstanding model, in fact it is the presentation piece for all our models, it is

absolutely beautiful.  Although we looked hard at "Agamemnon" on your web

site we missed a number of highlights, one in particular ~ we have not seen a

model with "Hammock Nettings" before... Regards, Rick H."
